Albuquerque, New Mexico
Parents and Students,
Congratulations to the EHS marching band on their performance at the Pageant of Bands this weekend! The band did well, placing 4th overall, and received the Outstanding Brass award for class 5A. We are proud of how the students presented themselves and know that they will be working very hard this week to prepare for our final competition on Saturday.
Thank you to all of the parents who assisted the band this weekend with chaperoning students, feeding and keeping them hydrated, and volunteering to work shifts at the Pageant of Bands competition. We appreciate everyone's efforts in making sure that Eldorado was represented well at this competition. Special thanks to Ms. Rocquel Bogue and her team for providing the pizza meal for the students on Saturday.
I would like to thank Mrs. Dowding and Mrs. Dixon for being our POB representatives this year. They have attended many meetings and done a great deal of work to make sure Eldorado had strong representation at this event.
We have the NM Tournament of Bands competition this weekend in Las Cruces. The competition will be held at NMSU Aggie Memorial Stadium. Eldorado has not been to this competition since 2013, but we feel that our band will have a strong performance and do very well at the competition this year. As the itinerary states, if we are selected as one of the 10 finalists, we will stay through the end of the competition and be back pretty early on Sunday morning. If that is the case, please make sure that your child has a ride when they return. If we are not selected as a finalist, we will head home after dinner. We will of course be in contact via text as everything transpires.
*Please make sure your child has picked up or picks up their permission slip tomorrow, has it signed, and turns it in by Tuesday of this week. Each student needs to have their own slip turned in. If there are siblings, each students needs to fill one out.
This Thursday, we have a game against Manzano. We will be on the visitor side of Wilson stadium. This will be our "Halloween game". All sections should have come up with a costume theme for this game. Students will have time early this week to coordinate outfits for the game. This is a lot of fun watching our students dress up in costume and march the show. We will be taking buses to Wilson stadium on Thursday. The report time will be 5:30 pm at EHS.
Here is the schedule for the week:
Monday- Woodwind and Brass sectionals. We will be reviewing all musical changes in the show as well as finalizing Halloween costumes for the game on Thursday.
Tuesday- Final Tuesday marching rehearsal!!!! 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Please dress appropriately for the weather at this rehearsal and all week.
Wednesday- Percussion and Color guard rehearsal from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Thursday- Football game at Wilson Stadium - 5:30 pm report time.
Saturday- Tournament of Bands competition in Las Cruces!
Please make sure you are practicing your music for Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and All-State auditions. If you have any questions, please let us know.
We wish the best of luck to our marching band as we near the finish line. We know you will do well this weekend! Thank you everyone for your continued support!
